Biografie
Activitățile care i-au modelat cariera au fost realizate în proiecte de mediu cu componente puternice de cercetare în hidrogeologie și resurse de apă subterană, protecția mediului, hazarde naturale și evaluarea riscului. Activitatea sa actuală se concentrează extensiv pe studiul apelor subterane urbane și a implementării infrastructurii verzi în orașe. Radu Gogu a inițiat și dezvoltat modelul hidrogeologic urban al Municipiului București (2010 – 2019), model ce a stat la baza mai multor studii iar în prezent este utilizat pentru implementarea de sisteme de drenaj și elemente de infrastructură verde. Din anul 2018, Radu Gogu este directorul Rețelei de Hidrogeologie Urbană a Asociației Internaționale a Hidrogeologilor (IAH) și președintele Grupului de specialiști în managementul apelor subterane a Asociației Internaționale a Apei (IWA).
Printre alte realizări științifice și tehnice se pot menționa: proiectarea bazei de date hidrogeologice a Regiunii Valone-Belgia (1997 – 2000), elaborarea hărților hidrogeologice prototip (1999-2000) ale Regiunii Valone (Belgia), proiectarea și dezvoltarea primei baze de date geospațiale pentru vulcanii activi Nysiros (Grecia) și Campi Flegrei (Italia) în cadrul proiectului GEOWARN al ETH Zürich, Elveția (2000-2004), proiectarea și dezvoltarea bazei de date hidrogeologice a orașului Barcelona (Spania) (2006 – 2009) și crearea de instrumente software pentru analiză geologică 3D și studiul calității apei subterane (2006 – 2011).
Între anii 1993 – 1997 Radu Gogu a inițiat și dezvoltat prima Școală Postuniversitară de Sisteme Informatice Geografice din România în cadrul Universității Tehnice de Construcții București (în cadrul rețelei universitare internaționale UNIGIS).
De asemenea, Radu Gogu a fost implicat în proiecte privind riscul de inundații și managementul riscului de inundații, proiecte dezvoltate dezvoltate de Banca Mondială si/sau în cadrul Directivei Cadru pentru Apă și Directiva Inundații (UE).
Între 2023-2024, a dezvoltat pentru European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of the European Law IMPEL (impel.eu/) tehnici de observare a Pământului pentru detectarea activităților ilegale ale apelor subterane.
