ACTIVITATEA PROFESIONALĂ

Prof.dr.ing. Dan Mihai Constantinescu profesor la Universitatea Naţională de Ştiinţă şi Tehnologie POLITEHNICA Bucureşti, Facultatea de Inginerie Industrială şi Robotică, Departamentul Rezistenţa Materialelor

Este în POLITEHNICA Bucureşti din anul 1985 îndeplinind, pe rând, fucţiile: asistent suplinitor (1986); asistent (1987); şef de lucrari (1992); conferenţiar (1999); profesor (2003) şi conducător de doctorat (2008).

A predat în Politehnică cursuri de Rezistenţa Materialelor, Metoda Elementelor Finite, Mecanica Ruperii, Durabilitatea Componentelor Structurale supuse la Solicitări Variabile, Mecanica Materialelor Moderne utilizate la autovehicule, Modelare şi Simulare. La Virginia Tech a predat cursuri de Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Introduction to Continuum Mechanics, Variational Methods in Engineering.

Desfăşoară cercetări experimentale şi numerice privind: fabricarea aditivă şi comportarea metamaterialelor, materiale compozite stratificate şi sandwich, propagarea deteriorărilor şi delaminărilor, comportarea la solicitati statice şi prin impact a aliajelor metalice usoare, a materiale ceramice şi a materialelor compozite, fabricarea şi încercarea nanocompozitelor cu nanotuburi din carbon, grafen şi nanopulberi.

A fost bursier Fulbright la Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, SUA (1991) şi bursier DAAD la Universitatea din Braunschweig, Germania (1999).

Contract de cercetare la Universitatea din Ljubljana (1992-1993) şi stagiu de cercetare efectuat cu sprijinul dat de National Research Council, Twinning Program Participants la Universitatea Lehigh, SUA (1995-1996).

A beneficiat de două stagii de cercetare în Programe ale Comisiei Europene la Aerospace and Space Materials Technology Testhouse (AMTT), Seibersdorf, Austria şi Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt (DLR), Braunschweig, Germania (2003).

Cercetarea o desfăşoară ca şef al laboratoarelor: Modelarea şi simularea comportării şi deteriorării materialelor (din 2004) şi Mecanica ruperii şi oboseală (din 2007).

Este director al Centrului de Cercetări de Mecanică Aplicată (CMMA) din 2005.

Desfăsoară activitate de cercetare şi la Institutul de Mecanica Solidelor al Academiei Române ca cercetator ştiinţific I cu jumătate de normă.

A fost director general al Direcţiei Generale de Învaţamânt Superior, Ministerul Educaţiei şi Cercetarii (2006-2007), membru în Bologna Follow up Group (BFUG), şi membru în Boardul BFUG, director de departament (2020-2024).

Preşedinte al Comisiei 17, Inginerie mecanica, mecatronică şi robotică şi inginerie genistică şi de armament (2020-2024) şi în prezent membru al aceleiaşi comisii.

Este membru al Consiliului Şcolii Doctorale de Științe Inginerești, Mecanice, Calculatoare (SDSIMC) din Şcoala de Studii Avansate a Academiei Române (SCOSAAR) (2023-prezent).

Desfăsoară o bogată activitate de recenzor la peste 40 de reviste de specialitate internaţionale dintre care se menţionează: Engineering Fracture Mechanics, Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, Engineering Failure Analysis, Mechanics of Materials, International Journal of Solids and Structures, Materials & Design, Composite Structures, Engineering Structures, Composites B: Engineering, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, International Journal of Impact Engineering, Journal of Sandwich Structures and Materials, International Journal of Mechanics and Materials in Design, Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, Experimental Techniques, Materials Today Communications. Membru în comitetul editorial ştiinţific al revistelor: Fracture and Structural Integrity (Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale), Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications, Romanian Journal of Technical Sciences – Applied Mechanics, Scientific Bulletin of University Politehnica, Series D: Mechanical Engineering.

A primit Premiul „Aurel Vlaicu“ al Academiei Române pentru anul 2019 (acordat în anul 2021), pentru grupul de lucrări: Mecanica materialelor compozite; autori: Dan Mihai Constantinescu și Ștefan Sorohan.

Responsabilităţile academic şi ştiinţifice sunt: vicepreşedinte al Asociaţiei Române de Mecanica Ruperii (2010-prezent); vicepreşedinte al Asociaţiei Române de Tensometrie şi Încercarea Materialelor (2011-prezent); reprezentantul României în Comitetul Ştiinţific al Societăţii Danubia-Adria de Mecanică Experimentală (2011-prezent).
